I am the local guy on the morning show. We moved to Richmond when I was five and have lived here most of my life. I graduated from Meadowbrook High School and went on to Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. I have worked for WRVA since 1994 and have ties to Sports Radio 910/WRNL dating back to 1987 when it was an oldies station. I have also worked for the Virginia News Network since 1987. I am married and have three kids and live in Glen Allen.

Footbal fever

Hey folks....

It's a great time of year because NFL training camps are rolling and now college football practices are underway.

It should be interesting at UVa after a tough offseason with more players in trouble with the law and others facing academic issues. The program is taking on water. The challenge for Al Groh to patch a team together and find a quarterback because in only 25 more days the USC Trojans come to town!!!! Maybe they can trade for Brett Favre!!!!

At Virginia Tech there are issues like filling key holes on defense along with finding reliable receivers and a starting tailback. There is also a QB competition but I say give the ball to Sean Glennon. Tyrod Taylor is a great talent but Glennon gives them a better chance to win.

Talkin football...makes me giddy with anticipation.....

BTW....I will put my czar hat back on this afternoon and team up with the prodigy (Joey Elswick) to fill in for the vacationing Wes McElroy on Sports Radio 910 from 3 to 6.

Some wild racing in the closing laps Sunday at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Califorinia. Did you see Kevin Harvick take out 3 other cars by over-drving into a corner??? Check it out...

Kyle Busch went on to win the race, his 5th win of the year.

One more Nascar note....looks like Mark Martin could be at Hendrick Motorsports in 2009...Check out he story on ESPN.com...

The Indy cars come to RIR this weekend for the Suntrust Indy Challenge. Those open wheel cars fly around that 3/4 mile track and you have to see it in person to believe it.

NBA Finals!!

The Finals begin tonight in Boston between the Celtics and Lakers. The hype for this series has been a walk down memory lane to the 10 previous championship series meetings between the teams and the great rivalry. It was special in the 80's when the showtime Lakers met Bird and the Celtics. Remember this classic buzzer beater by Magic????

That was Magic and so were those match-ups. This should be a great series but in no way will resemble the rivalry of old. The NBA is very differnt now. For the record, I am picking the Lakers in 6.

The US Open begins one week from today and now comes word that Tiger and Phil will be playing in the game group in the 1st 2 rounds along with Adam Scott. Clear this really hurts Phil's chances to win the Open, right????

A Woman Scorned...

They say hell hath no fury. Danica Patrick was angry after she was spun out of the race by Ryan Briscoe on pit road in the late stages of Sunday's Indy 500. She fumed down pit road to go after Briscoe but was eventually diverted by security personnel.....See below....

Here is the intervew she did after the race on ABC Sports....

Danica has been criticized in soem circles for her behavior but I love. Drivers get angry at each other all the time in the heat of the moment. It says here Danica showed she is fiesty, competitive and motivated. I am looking forward to seeing them at RIR next month.

Have you seen the video of the broken hockey trophy??? The Spokane Chiefs won the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup and as you can see the celebration did not go well....

The crowd reaction was priceless!!!! Thankfully, the trophy was a replica. The real Memorial Cup is safe and sound at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

My predictions for the holiday weekend.....

Dan Wheldon to win the Indy 500 and Jimmie Johnson to take the checkered flag at Charlotte. In the NBA I will take the Lakers to win game 2 vs SA and Detriot to win game 3 over Boston.

Locally,the VT softball team can get to the College World Series by taking 2 of 3 from Michigan this weekend, but I think the Wolverines are too tough. UVa is in the lacrosse final 4. I say the Cavs beat Syracuse and then lose to Duke in Monday's final.
